Let’s Be Real: Week 102

We switched to an in-house marketing agency, and leads started coming in. Season is picking up later than expected, but customers want service before Thanksgiving, so the calendar is filling nicely.

If windows or pressure washing are on your list before the holidays, now’s a good time to call.

A gutter job across 17 multifamily buildings. Then a quote at the most expensive lot ever sold in Broward. Very different properties, both exciting opportunities.

There was also a schedule mixup, and I ended up helping the crew at a recurring customer’s home. I actually like getting sweaty and working alongside them sometimes. Leading by example. Although, at this point, I thought I’d be nowhere near working the jobs myself.

We’ve been trying to hire for months, and I’ve been picky. Now that season is here, I’m questioning how picky I can afford to be.

I want a strong crew that works well and grows together. Training takes time, energy, and money. I don’t want to keep starting over. But I may need to make some compromises.

I also went to an On the Ball event. They connect sports and mindset to sales and leadership, with lessons you can use in any field.

With so many leadership groups, networking organizations, coaches, and programs, choosing where to invest can feel overwhelming. Maybe we need one review platform to compare them, find the right fit, and politely decline the rest.

A few situations this week felt like “pay to play.” I value relationships and learning, but is that investment right for me today?

If I knew exactly where I was headed, the answer might be easier. I’m trying to meet the uncertainty with curiosity and see the opportunity in it. Right now, I have questions. And yes, some analysis paralysis.

Midweek, we did a comp clean for The Shop, a community staple, before cleaning their home. We also dropped episode 2 of the podcast w/ Val J. Prophete. Link below.

Nouchelle Hastings asked me to join the welcoming committee for Saturday’s Women Empowering Women In Development 10/10 “The Pinnacle” and you can’t say no to Nouchelle. I helped the WEW ladies set up and welcome the honorees and their guests.

Over the weekend, I finally worked on the Shopify website I’ve had for over a year.

I tested what ChatGPT could do, and OMG we are doing it. I’m giving prompts to my phone and it’s doing all the work. Now I’m looking into AI courses. Please share if you have any good recommendations.

It still needs work, but I’m excited to launch soon. I’m not waiting for perfect.

A home for this series, the behind the scenes that won’t fit here, books I’m reading, cooking adventures and more. Come to the markets with me. Come along for the ride.

Maybe we’ll find a way to work together, through Pink’s or something else.

I don’t have every next step figured out. But I did take one.
