Woohoo! feels like it deserves a celebration.
The week started with Yom Kippur, a holiday I love because it forces me to take a complete time-out, be present and reflect. The way I observe means no phone, no food, no work, no writing, and no driving. I live too far from a shul to walk there, so I observed the day at home with my kids.
It’s become their favorite holiday because they get a full day with me without my phone, which is both sweet and a little sad.
After a full day of reflection, reality didn’t waste any time welcoming me back.
A job was cut short because of the weather. When we discussed returning, it became clear the customer and I weren’t aligned on what “clean” meant, and we probably weren’t going to get there, even with another visit. Clean and clear are not the same, and stains do not disappear just because the windows were cleaned.
Sometimes you have to know when to stop. We came to that decision together, I waived my fee, and we agreed not to return because neither of us wanted to continue toward an outcome that would leave her disappointed.
Between quotes, I was also dealing with taxes. The business and personal returns were both filed on time. Hallelujah. I’m still trying to fix the situation between my bookkeeper and accountant, but at least the deadlines were met.
Being open to other paths has been a friendly reminder that new opportunities start appearing once you make room for them.
Right on cue, my therapist texted to see how I was doing. I told her about the eye twitch that refuses to go away, and she offered me my free birthday session early. I jumped on it.
After hearing everything, she said, “Wow, that’s a lot.”
Then she asked whether I trusted myself to make the right decisions. The answer is yes, once I have enough information.
She also reminded me that life is short and asked whether I wake up excited to do what I have to do each day.
What I am learning is that I cannot wait for certain milestones before allowing myself to be happy. I can’t decide I’ll be happy when the business becomes profitable, runs without me, or I finally know what comes next.
Peace of mind comes from staying present instead of constantly waiting for the next thing to be fixed. We have to find happiness in who we are and where we are, even when the outside still feels uncertain.
Then I received a LinkedIn message from someone I who has been quietly following my story. His wife recently bought a franchise, and he shares my posts to remind her she isn’t alone in the ups and downs. I guess misery loves company, LOL. It’s not really misery, IYKYK.
His message reminded me that people value the “real reel”.
And then my astrology reading this week showed Leopard energy, which I loved. It reminded me of this amazing ad I fell in love with in Paris. It felt perfect for all the right reasons.
If you appreciate great advertising, I think you’ll appreciate this one too.
